Cookie policy
We measure how many people visit the site, and we run campaigns on Google. Both need a cookie. None of them loads until you accept, and you can change your mind whenever you like.

1. Strictly necessary
These are what make the site work. They are exempt from consent, so they cannot be switched off.
| Name | Who sets it | How long | What for |
|---|---|---|---|
| saudade-consent | Saudade · local storage, not a cookie | Until you clear the site data | Remembering what you decided about cookies and when, so we do not ask again and can evidence it. It never travels to any server. |
2. Analytics
These are only set if you accept them. They tell us how many people come in, where they arrive from and which pages they read — without that we are working blind.
| Name | Who sets it | How long | What for |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google · first party | 2 years | Telling your browser apart from other visitors’, so you are not counted twice. |
| _ga_247CLBD6WG | Google · first party | 2 years | Keeping the state of your visit within this site: how you arrived and which pages you have seen. |
3. Advertising
These are only set if you accept them. They tell us whether you arrived from an advert and whether you ended up writing to us — without that we cannot tell which campaign works and which is money thrown away.
| Name | Who sets it | How long | What for |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google · first party | 90 days | Linking your visit to the advert you arrived from, so we know which campaign works. |
| IDE | Google · doubleclick.net | Up to 13 months | Measuring and personalising the adverts you see away from this site. |
| test_cookie | Google · doubleclick.net | 15 minutes | Checking whether your browser accepts cookies. |
The names and durations are set by each provider and can change without notice to us. Their own terms are in Google’s cookie policy.
4. Transfers outside Europe
Google is a US company. If you accept analytics or advertising, some of your browsing data is processed outside the European Economic Area, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you do not accept, nothing leaves.
5. Changing your mind
You can review or withdraw your decision whenever you like, and it is as easy as giving it was. If you withdraw your permission, we delete the cookies we can delete from here; the ones set by another domain are removed from your browser.
6. Deleting them from your browser
Clear website data in your browser — in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge it is under the privacy settings. You can also browse in a private window: nothing is left when you close it.
